The Red Location Museum Part 3

This is the square at the Red Location Museum, where one would meet the children from the location playing around. This can also be viewed as an elegant entrance portico and the lowered timber pergolas create an inviting space where the children can play, and the adults can come together. This project received an award of excellence from the South African Institute Of Architects.

The Red Location Museum Part 1

I took this picture from one of the archive spaces in The Red Location Museum in New Brighton. It was my first experience in the museum where i full understood the depth of South African History. The Red Location Museum is an apartheid museum in New Brighton township, designed by architect Jo Noero. For some reason, this picture is one of many that inspires me on our new design project in Walmer/Gqebera township.
